Hi, I'm Deshon Méndez.
I started The Helpful Byte because tech help shouldn't make anyone feel small.
I've spent over a decade in technology from every angle: years at Apple as a Genius and Technical Expert, helping thousands of people one-on-one (plus a stint in cellular engineering), time at AT&T and Spectrum working with networks and business accounts, and product work at Illumination — designing workflows, automating repetitive tasks, and making complicated systems make sense.
Across all of it, I kept seeing the same pattern: people and small businesses paying for technology nobody ever explained to them, apologizing for "dumb questions" that weren't dumb at all. So this business runs on a simple idea: technology, explained in byte-sized pieces, by someone on your side.

How I work
Plain language, honest recommendations, and no lectures. I'll tell you when something's worth fixing and when it isn't — even when that costs me a sale. Everything I build for you comes documented, so you're never locked in or left guessing.
The missing byte
That gap in our logo's smile? It's the wrong byte — the one small thing that isn't working. Finding it and fixing it should feel this friendly.
